The Clean Air Zone vehicle scrappage scheme

Birmingham's Vehicle Scrappage Scheme offers you the chance to remove your high-polluting vehicle from the road in exchange for a fantastic range of grant packages worth up to £4,000. The scheme is being delivered thanks to £4m of existing funding provided to the Council by the Government when the plans for the Clean Air Zone were approved in 2019.

Previously only open to those who work within the Clean Air Zone boundary, the scheme has been expanded to include those who live within the zone a chance to apply for grant packages worth up to £4,000 in exchange for scrapping a vehicle that does not meet Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone emissions standards.

The scheme has been created to support low-income workers and residents in the zone with a financial incentive to scrap a ‘non-compliant’ vehicle and/or adopt more sustainable modes of travel.

By taking part in the scheme, you will be helping to improve air quality and reduce the numbers of the most-polluting vehicles entering the zone.
