The Clean Air Zone vehicle scrappage scheme
Who can apply?
To apply for this scheme, your vehicle must be non-compliant with Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone (i.e. you currently pay the daily fee to enter the zone). You can check if your vehicle is eligible by using the GOV.UK Vehicle Checker
Evidence will be required to prove identity and vehicle ownership. Each vehicle will require a separate application.
Residents
If you live within the Clean Air Zone and you are in receipt of one or more of the eligible benefits within the last 12-months (you can apply to the scheme). You will need to provide relevant evidence of living in the zone and receipt of benefits.
Workers
If you live outside of the Clean Air Zone boundary but travel into the zone for employment purposes and earn less than £32,000 per annum and work a minimum of 18 hours per week you are eligible to apply. You will need to provide relevant evidence of working in the zone (see example letter) and your earnings.
